At 73 and 65 years old, respectively, Bill and Donna Bailey may not seem like your typical home improvement weekend warriors – especially when the project on hand is building a new outdoor deck! But armed with Trex’s installation guides (and a good set of tools), the Baileys were more than up to the task for a DIY deck.
The Bailey's finished deck features Trex Transcend® decking in Spiced Rum, with coordinating Transcend railing in Vintage Lantern. Supporting it all is the Trex Elevations® Steel Deck Framing System, which offers superior aesthetics, durability, longevity and stability when compared with traditional wood substructures.
While some may think deck materials like Trex Elevations would be best left to the pros, the Baileys can’t imagine having built their deck without it.
“The truth is, I was a little worried about using it before I got started,” said Bill Bailey, “but I quickly found it to be easy to work with and nice to not have to worry about warped or twisted lumber and splinters in my hands.”
In addition, the Baileys credit their success to the “top notch” Trex Elevations installation guide for providing step-by-step instruction, as well as answers to all their installation questions.
The Bailey’s backyard is now the talk of the neighborhood, and this handy couple encourages anyone thinking of building their dream outdoor living space to follow in their footsteps. Of course, if your idea of being “handy” is on par with changing a light bulb – there’s no need to fret! The Find a Deck Builder tool on trex.com makes it easy to find a qualified Trex Pro, who can help bring your outdoor living aspirations to life.
Keep up the great work, Bill and Donna! You’re an inspiration to us all!
